It can be manipulated very well once it warms to the skin and covers dark spots well. The NYX Full Coverage Orange Concealer is a cream formula and as the name would suggest, it’s full coverage. I recently picked up two orange correctors to review: NYX Full Coverage Orange Concealer and LA Girl Orange Corrector. You can also use a concealer that’s more golden (or in some cases red) in undertone to “cancel” out the darkness. Orange is a color typically used to correct darkness (under the eyes, discoloration, dark spots, etc.) typically in darker skin tones. But if you’re curious as to which other colors correct what, check out this post I wrote YEAAAAARS ago (info is still good…lol). but for the sake of this post we’ll talk about correcting dark (in color) areas that tend to occur in women of color. There’s a host of colors that correct things like sallowness, redness, etc. There’s more than one way to skin a cat BUT applying a color corrector OVER any type of base will probably make you mad and late for wherever you have to go. Alternatively you could mix a little of the corrector into your foundation and then apply that-do whatever works and looks best for you. You put your color corrector on first and then apply your foundation (or concealer if you’re doing a look that skips foundation) over that. No but seriously, some of us have things like dark under eye circles, hyperpigmentation, vitiligo, etc that the inclusion of a good color corrector can work wonders for. The basic idea behind color correctors is to color correct-DUH. But as someone who takes her job of testing beauty products VERY seriously (haha), I’m pretty open to being the guinea pig trying stuff and reporting back on my thoughts. There have been many advancements in concealer shades as well as improvements to full coverage foundation formulas (many are now SO much lighter in feel than their predecessors-check out the BECCA Ultimate Coverage foundation for instance) that many folks won’t have a need for a corrector in your makeup routine. Read ALL about my review process including how I take swatches, photos, and more here.Ĭolor correctors can be awesome products, BUT do understand that most people likely don’t need them.
